Sotirios G. Ziavras, PhD, a professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering, and director of NJIT Computer Architecture and Parallel Processing Laboratory recently received the Excellence Award in Graduate Instruction at the University of NJIT's meeting. Meeting in a traditional honor select members of the NJIT faculty and staff who have demonstrated the highest level of excellence over a sustained period. In March 2012, Ziavras will co-chair a special session on information and communication technology for smart grid of the IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology in Greece. He is a past chair of the 2010 13th IEEE International Conference on Computational Science and Engineering Program and past chair of the IEEE International Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence 21 in 2009.
He has authored more than 160 research papers. He also served as coordinator of the department of computer architecture and system area of thrust.
His research interests advanced computer architecture, embedded computing systems, parallel processing, VLSI design and reconfigurable computing.
